High fines are on the way for consumers who neglect to get receipts and invoices for their purchases and businesses that do not issue documents.
The regulation in question entered into force on August 2. The procedures and principles of the application were specified in the Draft Tax Procedure Law Communiqué published by the Revenue Administration on September 9.
According to the news reported by Dünya newspaper, if it is determined that non-taxpayer end consumers have not received their invoices, expense slips, producer receipts, freelance receipts, retail sales receipts, payment recording device receipts and entrance and passenger transportation tickets, a special irregularity fine of 5,000 Turkish liras will be imposed for each document.
For sellers, a minimum fine of 10,000 TL has been foreseen for documents that have not been prepared, and the fines will continue to increase when deductions are repeated. In particular, a detection made within the same calendar year will cause the fines to increase.
Penalties may increase from 10 thousand TL for the first cut, 20 thousand TL for the second cut, and may go up to 100 thousand TL. If invalid documents are issued, sellers will face higher penalties.
