Türk Telekom’s financial and operational results for the second quarter of 2024 were announced at a press conference held in Istanbul.
Türk Telekom’s consolidated revenues increased by 5 percent in real terms on an annual basis to 63.2 billion liras thanks to its strong performance in the first 6 months of the year, and its EBITDA increased by 22.2 percent in real terms on an annual basis to 23.9 billion liras.
The company’s EBITDA margin improved by 530 basis points compared to the same period last year, reaching 37.8 percent.
Türk Telekom’s net profit in the first half of 2024 accelerated rapidly compared to the same period last year, which included the earthquake effects, and reached 2.5 billion lira.
As of the second quarter of 2024, the company had a total subscriber count of 52.6 million, and as a result of its ongoing efforts to provide high-speed internet in every corner of Turkey, the length of its fiber network increased to 449 thousand kilometers.
The fiber network, which covered 32.2 million households as of the first quarter of 2024, reached coverage of 32.4 million households in the first half of 2024.
Speaking to members of the press at the meeting, Önal said that the total number of subscribers in fixed internet products increased by 1.8 percent on an annual basis, reaching 15.2 million.
Önal shared the information that the total number of fiber subscribers reached 13.2 million with a net subscriber gain of 969 thousand in the last 12 months, and noted that the number of subscribers in mobile increased to 26.3 million.
Önal underlined that they achieved a record 1.9 million net subscriber gain in the last 12 months on postpaid lines, and continued his speech as follows:
“In the first half of 2024, we have increased our consolidated revenues by 63.2 billion liras, a real increase of 5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. EBITDA increased by 22.2 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 23.9 billion liras, while the EBITDA margin was 37.8 percent. Our net profit for the first 6 months of 2024 accelerated rapidly compared to the same period of the previous year, including the effects of the earthquake, and reached 2.5 billion liras. The total investment we have made for the digitalization of our country since 2005 has reached 20.7 billion dollars.
We are involved in every move that will carry our country forward in the technology race. In the coming period, we will continue to be the flag bearer of our country’s technology exports with our activities in every field, from digital to infrastructure, from fiber to mobile, from customer experience to enterprises.”
Önal stated that they have covered all 81 provinces with end-to-end fiber networks with the understanding of “not in one city of the country but in every city” and that they have brought all cities of Turkey together with their strong infrastructure.
