For 23 years, Ellen Weintraub was a member of the body responsible for the election rules in the United States. Now she has been released. She doubts the legality.
US President Donald Trump wants to fire the democratic chairman of the FEC election commission, Ellen Weinkraub, according to whose information. It was released “with immediate effect” from the Commission, it was said in a letter signed by Trump, which she published on platform X.
“There is a legal way to replace FEC commissioners – he is not,” wrote Weintraub. According to the election commission, she has been a member since 2002, and she has been chairwoman since 2025. The body responsible for electoral rules therefore consists of six members, appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate. No more than three members may belong to one party. The Vice Chairman, James Trainor, is a Republican.
As the “New York Times” reported, wine grab can only be discontinued when its successor has been confirmed by the Senate. One reason for her dismissal may be that she had publicly reported complaints against Trump, Weintauna said to the newspaper. “So I’m not really surprised that I’m on your radar.” She was lucky enough to serve the American people “and to cause some unrest”, Weintrub wrote on X. Nothing will change so quickly.
After his swearing -in, Trump immediately started turning on the state apparatus. The Republican wants to fill positions with people who represent his policy loyally. Many employees in ministries and authorities were cold or released.
