BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul remained horizontal in the first half of the day.

The BIST 100 index, which moved in a narrow band in the first half of the day, rose to 9,663.85 points as of 13:00, with an increase of 3.89 points and 0.04 percent compared to the previous closing. The total transaction volume was 42.7 billion lira.

The banking index gained 0.35 percent and the holding index gained 0.04 percent.

Among the sector indices, the one that gained the most was insurance with 4.3 percent, and the one that decreased the most was sports with 2.4 percent.

While global markets remain mixed due to the unclear road map to be followed by the US Federal Reserve (Fed) in its fight against inflation and the impact of increasing geopolitical tensions, all eyes are on the meeting minutes to be published today by the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC).

On the other hand, the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) announced that annual inflation expectations for the next 12 months have decreased. In November, 12-month ahead annual inflation expectations decreased to 27.2 percent for market participants, 47.8 percent for the real sector, and 64.1 percent for households.

Analysts stated that the domestic data agenda will be calm for the rest of the day, while new housing sales in the USA, New York Fed consumer confidence index and FOMC meeting minutes will be followed abroad, and from a technical perspective, 9,700 and 9,800 points in the BIST 100 index will be resistance, 9,600 and 9,600 points will be followed. He noted that 9,500 levels are in a support position.
