While Israel’s infiltration and detonation of Hezbollah members’ pagers in Lebanon shocked the world, intelligence information regarding Iran’s cyber attacks has come to light. The Rane Intelligence Company, known for its closeness to the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) and therefore referred to as the ‘Shadow Pentagon’, has published a report claiming that Iran currently has the world’s fastest and most dangerously rising cyber army. Haber Global Web Özel has obtained Rane’s report. Here are the striking details from that report:
HACKER NUMBER APPROACHES RUSSIA
While numerous investigations are being conducted in the United States and Europe, particularly regarding Russia’s alleged hacking activities affecting NATO systems and US elections, the two-part report prepared by the Rane Company states: Iran has begun to launch “increasingly aggressive and dangerous” cyberattacks on commercial institutions, military systems, intelligence sites and public institutions in European countries and the United States. It was claimed that the number of hacker armies working for the state in the country was starting to approach that of Russia, and the report included information that if Donald Trump is re-elected as President in November, these attacks will increase even more.
NEW WEAPON HACKERS
The Pentagon report shared information that Iran’s cyber activities aimed at influencing the 2024 US Presidential elections were “on par with Russia”. According to information received from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), Tehran is particularly involved in a global disinformation campaign. According to the information in the report, Iran has recently increased its cyberattacks instead of responding militarily to tensions. Another reason why Iran is focusing on cyberattacks is that such interventions do not leave a clear trace behind.
TRUMP ASSASSINATION CLAIM
It is also alleged that Iran finances groups that want to organize protests against the government in the US with cryptocurrencies. According to the information obtained, the hacker group named ‘Charming Kitten’, which has ties to Tehran, attacked Donald Trump’s election campaign system on August 10. According to ODNI intelligence, Iran has allocated its cyber army resources “to use against Trump” in the last weeks of the election. It is alleged that it has infiltrated the websites established by radical groups in the US It has also been reported that Iranian hacker groups financed posts suggesting an assassination attempt against Republican Party presidential candidate Trump.
HERE ARE THOSE GROUPS
Iran is also believed to have hacked the water distribution network in Pennsylvania through the hacker group ‘Cyber Av3ngers’, leaving millions of people without water for days. The group is thought to have hacked more than 20 public institutions in the US in the last two months. Other international hacker groups with links to Tehran listed by US intelligence agencies are: ‘Haghjoan’, ‘CyberToufan’ and ‘YareGomnam’. Among the information reflected by intelligence sources is that these groups have recently hacked the mobile phone recording systems of 50 different airports across the United States.
