TBB applied to the administrative courts with a request to cancel the access blocking decision given by the Information Technologies and Communication Authority dated 02/08/2024 regarding ‘Instagram.com’ and to stay its execution without receiving a defense.
In the petition for annulment, it was stated that the Information Technologies and Communication Authority “arbitrarily used its authority without justification” and that “blocking access to the entire site instead of blocking access based on URLs is an excessive measure that would constitute a violation of freedom of expression for everyone who is a user of the social media platform in the framework of the explanations and principles included in the decisions of the Constitutional Court and the ECHR.”
