According to the statement made by the company, the Autonomous e-ATAK, which will serve in Arbon, one of the historical cities of Switzerland, was purchased within the scope of the Self Controlled City Liner project.

The vehicle, which will be delivered to the city by Karsan in December, will start carrying passengers under Arbon’s public transport operator Eurobus Ostschweiz AG as of January 2025.

The Autonomous e-ATAK, which will operate at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour on a 2.2-kilometer route with 8 stops between the historic city center of Arbon and the new residential area of Saurer Werk 2, will be the country’s first autonomous bus.

Karsan CEO Okan Baş, whose views were included in the statement, stated that Karsan continues to take innovative steps with its vision of “One Step Ahead in the Future of Mobility” and said, “We continue to transform the transportation infrastructure of the world, especially in Europe, with our electric and autonomous vehicles.”

Baş emphasized that the Autonomous e-ATAK, which is a vehicle that provides autonomous public transportation services in open traffic within cities in Europe, has also achieved significant success as the first driverless vehicle to pass through a tunnel in Europe.

Baş, who stated that the vehicle promises its passengers a comfortable and environmentally friendly autonomous travel experience with its compact structure suitable for the narrow streets of the city of Arbon in Switzerland, without damaging the historical texture, said, “We are proud to play a leading role in Switzerland’s transition to driverless public transportation with the Autonomous e-ATAK, which will provide passenger transportation services in autonomous driving mode on a 2.2-kilometer public transportation route. We aim to further solidify our presence in the Swiss market, where we previously entered with our Jest vehicle, with our 23 electric e-ATAK vehicles that we will deliver to one of the country’s largest operators in August and September.”

ADASTEC CEO Dr. Ali Peker said that this success is the result of the common vision they share with Karsan, and said, “With this strong collaboration, we continue to be the pioneer of innovation in public transportation.”
