Having started purchasing hazelnuts at designated points in the Merkez, Espiye, Dereli, Güce, Tirebolu and Görele districts, TMO held a ceremony at the warehouse in the Bulancak district.
Governor Mehmet Fatih Serdengeçti, who attended the ceremony, told reporters that it was extremely important for TMO to regulate hazelnut prices.
Serdengeçti said that this was a situation in the interest of the producer and thanked TMO.
Serdengeçti stated that they saw the product purchasing procedure in place when they first received hazelnuts from the producer, and said, “It was extremely positive that it was a very rational result that made our producer happy.”
Emphasizing that hazelnuts are the locomotive of Turkish agriculture, Serdengeçti continued his words as follows:
“At the same time, it is an important economic value for both the Black Sea and Giresun. This sweat should make people happy. We say, ‘This market, these conditions will make our producers happy.’ At the same time, hazelnut production goes through various stages. This purchasing point is the most valuable point. Therefore, it is extremely important for the purchase to start here.”
Serdengeçti noted that the first producer from whom TMO purchased hazelnuts this season, İzzet Kahya, had a yield of 51, and that in return, hazelnuts were purchased for 136 liras.
İzzet Kayha stated that he preferred TMO because the prices were better than the market, and said, “The merchant gave me 125 lira for my hazelnut, but it was equivalent to 136 lira at TMO. Normally it is 132 lira, but with the difference in yield it became equivalent to 136. Right now I have a profit of over 10 lira per kilogram.”
