The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is seeking to remove the gigantic 16 Psyche asteroid, whose value is calculated as 8 quintillion sterling (approximately 350 quintillion 320 quadrillion TL), from space and bring it to Earth. This giant piece of rock has such potential that if it can be brought to Earth, it can make anyone a billionaire.
16 Psyche is a giant asteroid with a diameter of approximately 220 kilometers and is notable for its metal content of 30 percent to 60 percent. The precious metals it contains, especially platinum and palladium, are of critical importance for the automotive and electronics industries.
It is estimated that if this asteroid is brought to Earth, a fortune worth approximately 1 billion pounds could fall per person.
On the other hand, NASA’s main purpose in carrying out this mission is to unravel the important secrets of this celestial body about the formation of the universe.
NASA launched the Psyche spacecraft with SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket in October 2023.
The vehicle will reach the asteroid in 2029, making a journey of 391 million kilometers.
Psyche will not make a direct descent; instead, it will orbit the asteroid and collect data about its structure, components and origin.
However, it will take until the early 2030s to analyze the scientific data obtained and obtain definitive results.
