Nature lovers claim that animals called ‘ammonites’, which are known to have lived on average 350 million years ago, are among the creatures that became extinct along with the dinosaurs.

Stating that they organize trips in groups in the historical villages of Bursa’s Yenişehir district, nature lover Fahri Çelebi, who studies the history of the region, said, “We constantly organize trips to historical places with our team throughout Turkey. Finally, we walked among the villages of Karaamca, Yarhisar and Abadiye, which are one of the important places in our history.” “We found different rocks in these areas. After consulting with experts, we learned that these stones are fossils of an animal species called ammonite, which is known to have lived approximately 350 million years ago, and is among the extinct marine molluscs,” he said.

Çelebi said, “These animals, which are known to have lived 350 million years ago on average, are among the creatures that became extinct along with the dinosaurs. It is known that they went extinct 60 million years ago on average. We call on the authorities to conduct a sound investigation of this region. We also volunteer to help.” “We are ready,” he said.

Ammonoids, or commonly known as Ammonites, are a subclass of extinct marine molluscs belonging to the cephalopod class.
