Inflation expectations of market participants increased

CBRT, in its May “Market Participants Survey”, participants’ year-end inflation expectations increased.

The year-end inflation forecast, which was 27.53 percent in the previous survey, was 28.94 percent in this survey period. The inflation expectation after 12 months increased from 23.39 percent to 23.82 percent.

This month, inflation expectation was 1.89 percent.

Dollar/TL year-end expectations increased from 51.23 TL to 51.57 TL.

The results of the CBRT’s survey are as follows:

“While the participants’ current year-end consumer inflation (CPI) expectation was 27.53 percent in the previous survey period, it became 28.94 percent in this survey period. While the 12-month CPI expectation was 23.39 percent in the previous survey period, it became 23.82 percent in this survey period. The 24-month CPI expectation, while it was 18.02 percent in the previous survey period, was 18.43 percent in this survey period.

FOREIGN EXCHANGE EXPECTATIONS

“While the participants’ current year-end exchange rate (US Dollar/TL) expectation was 51.23 TL in the previous survey period, it became 51.57 TL in this survey period. While the 12-month exchange rate expectation was 53.62 TL in the previous survey period, it was realized as 54.69 TL in this survey period.”
