A new Russian drone attack on President Zelensky’s hometown leaves people dead in a shopping center. The head of state speaks of a cynical attack.

At least five people were killed in a busy shopping center in the southeastern Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih in Russian drone strikes. This was reported by the military governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region, Olexander Hanscha, on the Telegram news platform. The number of injured has now increased to 91, Hanscha announced early in the evening. 21 people suffered serious injuries, including a child.

president Volodymyr Zelensky spoke in a post on Facebook of an “absolutely cynical and dastardly attack on an ordinary shopping center.” According to him, the drones attacked in two waves. “Half an hour after the first hit and the outbreak of a fire, another attack on the rescue workers followed,” he reported.

“Such attacks are simply acts of terrorism,” he emphasized. The world must respond accordingly – with real pressure on the aggressor. “For peace to prevail, there must be Russia actually be held accountable.”

Zelensky’s hometown is around 350 kilometers southeast of the capital Kyiv. Just a few days ago, Kryvyi Rih was attacked by the Russian military with combat drones and ballistic missiles. According to official information, two civilians died and almost a dozen people were injured.

Russia has been waging a war of aggression against them for almost four and a half years Ukraine. For several months now, the Russian military has increasingly targeted civilian targets in its neighboring country.
