None of these statements from Clinton are new. Clinton had made similar statements in the past. The couple explained themselves in a letter in January, among other things. Even then, the addressee was committee chairman Comer.
In many other cases, Comer said such an explanation was enough, Clinton accused the committee chairman in her statement: The Republican had previously obtained information from all former US attorney generals and FBI heads who had shared responsibility for the Epstein investigations over the past decades. Clinton and her husband, on the other hand, had to face direct questions from the committee.
But Clinton accused Comer of more than setting different standards for her and her husband. In addition, many people who could contribute to solving Epstein’s crimes have not yet been summoned. Clinton warned that a committee that was trying to curb human trafficking would have to summon someone who had asked Epstein about the “wildest parties.”
Clinton did not elaborate on who she was referring to. However, the statement was a clear reference to tech entrepreneur Elon Musk. According to an email that is included in the previously published Epstein files, Musk used the appropriate choice of words to ask Epstein when the best time was to visit him on his private island. The released documents do not indicate that Musk actually visited Epstein. The email traffic dates back to 2013. At that time, Epstein had already served a prison sentence for inciting minors to prostitution.
However, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick could potentially be subpoenaed. Committee Chairman Comer told reporters that it was “very possible” that the Trump administration secretary would have to explain himself.
Lutnick was Epstein’s neighbor in the past. He had previously stated that he had broken off contact with the sex offender in 2005. However, the recently published documents revealed that Lutnick lied about it and visited Epstein on his island with his family. The Democrats then called for the minister’s resignation.
