The amount Türkiye paid for energy imports decreased by 19.6 percent in January compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 5 billion 130 million 819 thousand dollars.
According to the provisional foreign trade statistics prepared by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Ministry of Commerce, Türkiye’s total imports in January were determined as 28 billion 694 million 872 thousand dollars, increasing by 0.1 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
5 billion 130 million 819 thousand dollars of this amount consisted of “mineral fuels, mineral oils and products obtained from their distillation, bituminous substances, mineral waxes”, which are summarized as energy imports.
In January last year, energy imports were recorded as 6 billion 385 million 547 thousand dollars. Thus, the amount of energy imports decreased by 19.6 percent on an annual basis.
During this period, crude oil imports increased by 12.8 percent and reached 2 million 665 thousand 385 tons.
