The deadline for the first installment payments of 2026 property taxes is running out.

The deadline for taxpayers who own real estate such as residences, land and workplaces to make their tax payments is Monday, June 1. A 3.5 percent late payment interest will be applied to those who do not make their payments on time.

Property tax can be paid in advance or in installments. Payments can be made on the weekends through the municipalities’ online system integrated with e-Government. On Monday, taxpayers will be able to make their payments physically to the municipality to which the property is located.

Retirees who own a single house with a gross area of not more than 200 square meters and relatives of martyrs who receive retired widows and orphans’ pension do not pay property taxes. Disabled people, veterans and those who prove that they have no income are also exempt from this tax. Spouses and children of martyrs who receive a duty disability pension and who only have one residence do not make payments.

Property tax is calculated based on the square meter value determined by the municipality every year. This value is multiplied by the size of the house or land to determine the current value. The tax amount may also vary depending on the type of real estate.
