Iran apparently hijacks research ship off the coast of the Emirates

According to the British security company Vanguard, a ship has been hijacked off the coast of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). “The company’s security officer reported that the ship was hijacked by Iranian personnel while it was at anchor,” Vanguard said Thursday. The ship is now heading for Iranian waters.

The contact was lost and the tracking system was switched off. According to two insiders, it is the Honduran-flagged fisheries research vessel “Hui Chuan.” Since the war between Iran and the USA and Israel began at the end of February, the government in Tehran has already detained at least two more ships.

Iran allows Chinese ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz

According to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), around 30 ships have passed through the Strait of Hormuz since last night. An IRGC navy commander said this, according to the Iranian Fars news agency. At the same time, he emphasized that no ship “from an enemy state” would be allowed to cross the strait.

According to the Iranian agency Tasnim, the ships were said to have been Chinese. Accordingly, the agreement came about after intensive efforts by both countries. The close bilateral relations and the strategic partnership played a crucial role, the report said.

An exact number of ships was not mentioned in the Tasnim report, only mentioning “a number of Chinese ships” that transited the Strait of Hormuz after prior coordination with the Iranian side. According to the information, the first passage began last night.
