The USA and Israel see further successes in the Iran war. Explosions were observed on a mountain at the Isfahan nuclear site. According to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, one goal currently has priority.
In the war against Iran, the United States attacked military facilities with bunker-busting bombs. According to media reports, large ammunition depots in the Isfahan area were the target. Iran confirmed the attacks. “There is currently no information available about the extent of the damage or the number of dead and injured from these attacks,” the Iranian news agency Isna quoted the province’s deputy governor, Akbar Salehi, as saying.
The Isfahan nuclear facility is also located in the target region. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) assumes that the Islamic Republic has stored at least some of its highly enriched uranium underground in Isfahan.
Footage on social media showed heavy explosions during the night. Pictures after the bombing showed, among other things, a glowing orange night sky. “Six bunker-busting bombs hit Mount Sofeh, a lot of follow-up explosions, several per second, the sky is brightly lit,” network activist Vahid quoted a message as saying.
In an interview with the US news portal “Newsmax”, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that the destruction of Tehran’s uranium reserves was currently the central goal of the attacks. Regarding the course of the war, he said: “We are more than halfway to the success of our mission.”
According to police, there were several hits in the Tel Aviv area after a new Iranian rocket attack on Israel. According to the Magen David Adom rescue service, six people were injured. Israeli media reported that buildings and vehicles were damaged.
Iran continues to fire on neighboring Gulf states with ballistic missiles and drones a month after the US-Israeli attacks began. Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates reported renewed attacks. A huge Kuwaiti oil tanker was also hit in the Persian Gulf off the coast of Dubai, the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation said, according to the state news agency Kuna. A fire broke out which, according to the authorities in Dubai, could only be extinguished after several hours. There are no injuries.
It remains uncertain whether and when passage through the Strait of Hormuz, which is important for global goods and oil and gas trade, will be possible again. According to information from Beijing, at least three Chinese ships recently managed to transit the strait. The ships passed the route after coordination with all sides, said Foreign Office spokeswoman Mao Ning in Beijing.
According to the Ifo Institute, the Iran war is becoming a major burden for the German economy. Around 90 percent of industrial companies expect the war to affect their business, according to a survey by the Munich Research Institute. Only 9 percent do not currently feel affected.
