Trump recently suggested that Syria could take over the fight against the Iranian-funded Hezbollah terrorist militia in Lebanon. If Israel cannot deal with Hezbollah “without killing everyone,” then al-Sharaa will take over that task, Trump said.

US diplomat: Negotiations in Switzerland continue

According to US information, talks between US and Iranian delegations in Switzerland are continuing despite a dispute over statements by President Donald Trump. A US diplomat said on Monday night that the Iranian delegation was still in the luxury hotel Bürgenstock. The talks are expected to continue through the night.

The US diplomat said the talks were, among other things, about clarifying “confusing messages from Iran” about the Strait of Hormuz. Mechanisms should also be put in place to ensure that the strait, which is important for oil and liquid gas trade, remains fully open.

Summit interrupted? Confusion over Iranian delegation

The Iranian delegation is said to have interrupted peace talks with the USA in Switzerland. This is reported by the Tasnim news agency, which is close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard. The reason given was renewed threats from US President Donald Trump towards Iran. A Pakistani reporter on site reports that the Iranian negotiators have retreated to their rooms in the luxury hotel Bürgenstock, where the negotiations are also taking place. Iranian state media report that it is unclear whether negotiations will continue. Iran should demand an apology from Trump. Read more here.

Trump had previously been on his service Truth Social wrote that the US would attack again if Iran did not stop supporting Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Pistorius: Trump is to blame for the Hormuz crisis

Federal Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius (SPD) has assigned US President Donald Trump responsibility for the ongoing crisis surrounding the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. Ultimately, Trump “pushed the cork in the Strait of Hormuz,” Pistorius said on Sunday in the ARD program “Report from Berlin.” “But we have an interest in getting him out again,” he added. The prerequisite for a Bundeswehr deployment to secure shipping in the strait is, among other things, the consent of the neighboring states of Iran and Oman.
