Apple’s CEO Tim Cook, who is preparing to leave office, said in a statement to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) that the current situation regarding memory chips has reached an “unsustainable” point and that price increases are inevitable.

Cook did not provide details about when the increases would come into force or which products they would cover. It is not yet clear whether the iPhone 18 series, which is expected to be introduced in September, will be affected by these increases.

Cook, who is expected to hand over his seat to John Ternus in September after his 15-year term, said, “At a time when consumers’ demand for devices is high, supply remains insufficient. Memory manufacturers are also applying very serious price increases.”
