As reported in the media between Trump and Netanyahu

Shortly before his hour-and-a-half meeting with Netanyahu, Trump seemed to confirm this impression. In an interview with Fox News, he made it seem as if Netanyahu was trying to convince him not to back down from the war Iran to avert. Asked about reports that Netanyahu wanted to talk to him about activities surrounding a suspected nuclear facility in Iran known as “Pickaxe Mountain,” Trump said: “Well, I don’t need Bibi to tell me that. Bibi is telling me that because he wants me to stay involved.”

The US tabloid “New York Post” recently reported, citing a source in Israel, that Netanyahu will probably present intelligence information to Trump that Iran is advancing nuclear efforts at the “Pickaxe Mountain” site in central Iran.

Israeli TV channel N12 reported that Netanyahu wanted to provide intelligence information about Iran’s alleged efforts to rebuild its military capabilities. This also included alleged efforts by Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Moschtaba Khamenei, to work towards a nuclear weapon. Tehran has denied such reports for years. Media had reported that Netanyahu could ask Trump to approve new Israeli attacks in Iran. However, ahead of a landmark election in Israel in October, it was also crucial for Netanyahu to show unity with Trump.

The US president indicated in his conversation with Fox News that he preferred an agreement with Iran to more serious attacks. According to his account, Graham also saw an agreement with Iran as the better way forward in the weeks before his death.

Zelensky and Trump

Trump, on the other hand, had spoken to Zelenskyj personally several times in recent weeks on the sidelines of various summits. The current meeting took place behind closed doors and, according to US media, ended after a good hour. Zelensky said on X that this was about strengthening the Ukrainian air defense against Russian missile attacks. “The President and I have discussed licenses to produce Patriot interceptor missiles and other things that may help,” he wrote.
