Two more suspects were arrested after the foiled attack on a US bank in Paris. The investigation is in full swing.

Two more suspects have been arrested after a foiled bomb attack on an American bank in Paris. As the anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office in Paris also announced, the first minor suspect arrested after the crime on Saturday night is still in police custody. The public prosecutor’s office has not yet provided any information about the background to the attempted attack.

Police forces prevented the attack on the Paris headquarters of Bank of America on Saturday night. As France’s Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said, “a violent terrorist attack” had been foiled.

In an interview with broadcaster BFMTV, the Interior Minister expressed his suspicion that the attempted attack could be related to the war in the Middle East. He drew parallels to similar attacks in other European countries such as the Netherlands, where there were recent arson attacks on a synagogue and a Jewish school.

After the foiled attack in Paris, an investigation is underway for the manufacture of incendiary or explosive devices as well as attempted arson and damage to property in connection with a terrorist organization.

As the broadcaster France Info reported, citing the police, the first suspect was caught when, with a lighter in his hand, he tried to light a five-liter canister filled with an unknown liquid and a firecracker that he had just left in front of the Bank of America building.

According to the broadcaster, the suspect was hired for the attack via a social network. He was promised 600 euros for the crime. France had previously received a tip from the intelligence service of a friendly country about possible action against the US bank in Paris.
