Explosive report – Netanyahu wants to sue Haaretz

The newspaper recently reported that Israel’s prime minister received a warning from Abu Dhabi before the Hamas massacre in 2023 and ignored it. Netanyahu wants to take action against the paper.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announces a lawsuit against the left-liberal newspaper “Haaretz” over a report according to which the Emirati president is said to have warned him of a large-scale offensive by Hamas in the fall of 2023. The Israeli head of government has instructed his lawyers to file a defamation lawsuit, he said on the X platform. This should, among other things, be directed against the paper and the author Schlomi Eldar.

Netanyahu said there was no conversation between him and the Emirati president between the beginning of September and October 7, 2023. His office had previously denied the report.

According to the newspaper report, Emirati President Mohammed bin Sajid called the Israeli prime minister from the presidential palace in Abu Dhabi a week and a half before October 7, 2023. In the conversation, he warned Netanyahu that the then head of the Islamist terrorist organization Hamas, Jihia al-Sinwar, was planning a large-scale offensive against Israel plan. Accordingly, three high-ranking foreign government representatives were informed about the content of the phone call. An advisor to the Emirati president who was familiar with the conversation was named as the source.

Despite the personal warning, Netanyahu did not inform the Israeli security chiefs and did nothing with this information, Haaretz reported. The Emirati president urged Netanyahu to take the situation seriously and prepare for an attack. To his surprise, however, he reacted “relatively calmly” and assured that Israel was “prepared for any scenario.”

The Times of Israel also reported, citing an Emirati source familiar with the matter, that Emirati President Netanyahu warned by telephone just days before the Hamas massacre that the terrorist organization was planning a large-scale attack on Israel.

The United Arab Emirates said it would not comment on media reports and speculation about talks between heads of government.

The report is also explosive because of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Israel. The “false story” was “part of the left’s election campaign,” Netanyahu’s statement continued.
