Türkiye’s oil imports decreased by 2 percent in January

Türkiye’s total imports of oil and petroleum products decreased by 2 percent in January compared to the same month last year, falling to 3 million 706 thousand 358 tons.

According to the “Oil Market Sector Report” of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) for January, crude oil imports, which constitute the largest item in Türkiye’s total oil imports, increased by 12.8 percent and reached 2 million 665 thousand 385 tons.

During this period, imports of diesel types decreased by 25.2 percent to 722 thousand 721 tons. The remaining part of imports consisted of gasoline and fuel oil types, aviation and maritime fuels and other products.

Thus, total imports decreased by 2 percent in January compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 3 million 706 thousand 358 tons.

The highest import of crude oil and petroleum products was from Russia with 1 million 840 thousand 312 tons, followed by Iraq with 518 thousand 931 tons and Saudi Arabia with 335 thousand 525 tons.

Domestic gasoline sales increased by 9.1 percent in January compared to the same month last year, reaching 428 thousand 812 tons. Petroleum product sales increased by 0.7 percent to 2 million 428 thousand 286 tons, and diesel sales decreased by 1.7 percent to 1 million 861 thousand 387 tons.

EXPORTS DECREASED BY 26.8 PERCENT IN THE OIL MARKET

In the same period, total exports in the oil market decreased by 26.8 percent to 1 million 69 thousand 949 tons.

While Türkiye’s aviation fuel exports increased by 7.9 percent to 452 thousand 986 tons, diesel types exports decreased by 78.9 percent to 120 thousand 307 tons.

Exports of marine fuels decreased by 61.8 percent to 55 thousand 823 tons, and exports of gasoline types decreased by 8.7 percent to 39 thousand 842 tons.

REFINERY OIL PRODUCTS PRODUCTION INCREASED BY 13.6 PERCENT

In the same period, total refinery petroleum product production increased by 13.6 percent and was recorded as 3 million 252 thousand 806 tons.

Aviation fuel production increased by 16.6 percent in January compared to the same month last year, reaching 511 thousand 781 tons, and gasoline types production increased by 12.8 percent and reached 473 thousand 17 tons. Production of diesel types decreased by 7 percent and reached 1 million 359 thousand 11 tons.
