The Israeli army has launched a new wave of attacks against the Iranian capital Tehran. The attacks targeted “the infrastructure of the Iranian terrorist regime,” the Israeli army said on Wednesday morning on the Telegram online service. The army had previously reported new missile volleys from Iran against Israel several times.
The Israeli emergency service Magen David Adom (MDA) said rescue workers treated a man who was injured on the way to a shelter. Late on Tuesday evening, MDA reported nine injured in an Iranian rocket attack in the Bnei Brak area in central Israel. Six children were among the injured. Another three people were injured in nearby Givat Shmuel.
The Israeli army also said it would continue to target Iran’s ability to produce and fire missiles. “We are hitting every link in the missile chain, from the manufacturing facilities to the launchers to the missiles themselves,” Israeli army spokesman Effie Defrin said in a televised address. According to Defrin, the number of Iranian launches has fallen to an average of around ten missiles per day. Iran tries to concentrate its efforts every few days and fire on a larger scale, especially on population centers. “We are prepared and continue to hunt the soldiers and commanders of the missile system in order to eliminate them,” he said.
Israel’s army says it has attacked Iran’s most important explosive device production site. The military announced in the evening that it had already been the target of a bombardment during the war last year. However, Iran’s leadership has been working to restore the capabilities of the facility in Isfahan in recent months.
The Israeli Air Force targeted dozens of targets in Iran throughout the day, including missile launch pads, the Israeli army said in a statement. The information could not initially be independently verified.
According to information from Tehran, another bullet hit the site of the Bushehr nuclear power plant. Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization said no one was injured, according to the state news agency Irna. There was also no damage to the power plant system.
A projectile had already hit the power plant site on Tuesday last week. Even then, the system remained undamaged. The Bushehr nuclear facility, Iran’s only nuclear power plant, is located about 760 kilometers south of Tehran on the Persian Gulf. Its Russian-designed reactor has been supplying electricity since 2011. The Russian state nuclear company Rosatom is currently building a second reactor block.
