Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Bayraktar, who was with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during his visit to Iraq on April 22, discussed possible collaborations with his counterparts within the scope of his contacts in both Baghdad and Erbil. Three months after the visit, the two countries took a new step in the field of energy. Turkey resumed electricity exports to Iraq after a 3-year hiatus. While the exports are carried out over the existing line between Turkey and Iraq, a maximum of 300 megawatts of electricity will be provided to Iraq. Minister Bayraktar said in a statement he made on his social media account, “As of yesterday, we resumed electricity exports to our neighbor Iraq, with whom we will contribute to the prosperity and peace of our region with the Development Path Project. With the investments we will make, we will also establish the Development Path as an ‘Energy Path’.”
