Donald Trump wants to take action from the first day of his term in office. He could implement over 100 decrees immediately after his inauguration.

Donald Trump wants to implement more than 100 executive orders from his first day in office as US President. The program includes measures for border security, deportations and other political priorities. This was reported by the AP news agency.

In an internal meeting with Republican senators on Capitol Hill, Trump’s advisor Stephen Miller presented key projects that are scheduled to start on January 20th. According to Axios, the main focus is on border surveillance and immigration policy.

A central aspect of the plans is a return to migration rules from Trump’s first term in office. Migrants should submit their asylum applications in other countries or stay in Mexico while they are processed. In addition, the government is targeting the deportation of around one million migrants who entered the country illegally, have been criminally convicted or are under court order to be deported. “That’s the obvious place to start,” said Senator James Lankford.

Trump also plans to push ahead with the completion of the US-Mexico border wall and the construction of new shelters for migrants. Senator John Hoeven spoke of a “substantial number” of decrees that are intended to have a symbolic and practical effect. The cost of these measures could amount to around $100 billion and should be financed through a budget law.

While executive orders when a president takes office are common, the planned scope is considered extraordinary. Experts suspect that Trump wants to bypass Congress in order to implement his political goals more quickly. In addition to migration and border policy, topics such as energy policy, public service rules and gender guidelines in schools will also be addressed.
