Trade Minister Ömer Bolat goes to Algeria and Tunisia

According to information received from the Ministry of Commerce, Bolat’s first stop within the scope of the North Africa program will be Algeria.

Turkey will take part as the “Guest of Honor Country” at the 55th International Algeria Fair, which will open its doors to visitors during Minister Bolat’s visit.

Minister Bolat, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş are planned to represent Turkey at the fair, which will start with the participation of Algerian President Abdulmecid Tebbun. 800 participants from 25 countries are expected at the fair.

HE WILL HOLD HIGH-LEVEL MEETINGS

Within the scope of the program, Bolat, Yılmaz and Göktaş will also participate in the World Turkish Business Council (DTİK) Turkish Business World meeting.

During his visit on June 23-24, Bolat will hold high-level meetings with the country’s leaders, including his Algerian counterpart. In addition, Minister Bolat is expected to open the Trade Delegation and B2B event, which will be organized by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) with the participation of company representatives from the two countries.

ALGERIA IS THE COUNTRY WHERE TURKEY INVESTS THE MOST IN AFRICA

As of 2023, Algeria is Turkey’s second largest trade partner on the African continent. The trade volume between the two countries reached 6.3 billion dollars at the end of last year. Algeria is also the country in which Turkey has invested the most in the African continent. Turkey is the country that makes the most investments and provides the most employment in this country, excluding oil and natural gas.

Around 1500 companies with Turkish partners operate in Algeria. The total investment amount of these companies exceeded 6 billion dollars. Turkish contracting companies have undertaken 636 projects worth 21.3 billion dollars in Algeria to date.

Türkiye-TUNISIA BUSINESS AND INVESTMENT FORUM WILL BE ON JUNE 25

After his visit to Algeria, Minister Bolat will go to Tunisia on June 25.

During the visit, the 2nd Turkey-Tunisia Business and Investment Forum will be held with the participation of Minister Bolat and Tunisian Minister of Trade and Export Development Kalthoum Ben Rejeb Guezzah, organized by the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) and the Tunisian Industry, Trade and Craftsmen Union (UTICA).

On the margins of the forum, Bolat will hold talks with Tunisian authorities, especially Guezzah. A round table meeting will also be held with the participation of business people from Turkey and Tunisia, where Tunisian investment opportunities and conditions will be evaluated.

Within the scope of the forum, it is envisaged to make presentations on investment opportunities in Tunisia, to review the existing commercial and economic relations and investment opportunities between the two countries, to discuss investment opportunities in sectors such as tourism, energy, agriculture, industry and textile, and to hold B2B meetings.

The forum in question will be a continuation of the Turkey-Tunisia Business and Investment Forum held in Istanbul on June 5 in cooperation with DEIK and UTICA. The event aims to follow up the talks held in Istanbul and concrete cooperation steps in sectors deemed priority for the two countries.

Türkiye-TUNISIA TRADE VOLUME IS 1.6 BILLION DOLLARS

The trade volume between Türkiye and Tunisia was recorded as 1.6 billion dollars in 2023. Approximately 1.3 billion dollars of this volume consists of Turkey’s exports and 300 million dollars consists of imports. Turkish contractors have implemented 21 projects worth 975 million dollars in Tunisia to date.
