The women had been held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip for 15 months. Now they have become the first hostages to be released as part of a new ceasefire agreement.

The three hostages released by Hamas in the Gaza Strip have been handed over to the Israeli army. The military said the women would now be accompanied into Israeli territory by a special unit. There they should be received by their mothers and medically examined.

Armed Hamas members had previously handed over the civilians Romi Gonen (24), Emily Damari (28) and Doron Steinbrecher (31) to representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Gaza. They had been held in the Gaza Strip since their abduction during the Hamas massacre on October 7, 2023. Now they have become the first hostages to be released as part of a new, six-week ceasefire agreement.
