Bethany Kozma, who coordinated development aid for Trump, explains in one of the leaked videos: “The government under a conservative president must erase all references to the word ‘climate change’, absolutely everywhere.”
Trump himself publicly wants nothing to do with the Heritage Foundation and called the plans “extreme.” Trump also distanced himself from Project 2025 during the TV duel against his challenger Kamala Harris on September 10th: “I have nothing to do with Project 2025. I haven’t read it and I won’t read it.”
However, this distancing does not seem to have been good enough. On October 31, the Republican said at a campaign rally in Albuquerque, New Mexico, that he had no idea what Project 2025 even was.
And yet there is no concern: Trump distances himself publicly, but ultimately implements the goals of his troops, said one of the heads of the Heritage Foundation, Russell Vought, in another video that emerged. Trump even “blessed” the organization.
There are clear points of contact between Trump and Project 2025 that go beyond former Trump employees. The clearest one is probably with Trump’s running mate JD Vance: Kevin Robert’s new book will be published on November 12th – a manifesto about the fight to “take America back”. Roberts actually wanted to publish the book in the summer, but postponed the date. Vance is the author of the foreword.
Among other things, JD Vance seems to have a similar attitude to the Heritage Foundation when it comes to his attitude towards women and divorce. At a lecture in 2021, Vance stated that divorce was “one of the greatest tricks” ever used against the American people. He praised couples who “stay together even in perhaps somewhat violent marriages.” On Wednesday, an interview snippet from 2020 surfaced in which the presenter explains that the only purpose women have after menopause is to care for children and grandchildren. Vance replies, “Yes.”
Heritage Foundation boss Kevin Roberts says he has a close relationship with Trump himself. In 2022, the two were proven to have flown together in a private jet. That same year, Trump spoke at a Heritage Foundation conference. They, Trump said at the time, are “laying the foundation and creating detailed plans for exactly what my movement wants to achieve.”
