The “2024 UBS Billionaire Targets Report” of Switzerland-based investment bank UBS has been published.
Accordingly, between 2015 and 2024, the wealth of global billionaires increased by 121 percent, from 6.3 trillion dollars to 14 trillion dollars.
In the same period, the number of dollar billionaires increased by 50 percent, reaching 2,682.
According to the report, the wealth of billionaires, which was 12 trillion dollars in 2023, increased by 2 trillion dollars to 14 trillion dollars in 2024.
In the USA, which has the world’s largest economy, the number of billionaires increased from 751 to 835, led by the industry and technology sector, while their wealth reached 5.8 trillion dollars from 4.6 trillion dollars.
In China, which has the world’s second largest economy, there was a decrease in both the number and wealth of billionaires. While the number of billionaires in China decreased from 520 to 427 in 2024, their wealth decreased from 1.8 trillion dollars to 1.4 trillion dollars.
In Germany, Europe’s largest economy, the wealth of 109 billionaires reached 576 billion dollars.
According to UBS’s report, technology billionaires recorded the highest increase in their wealth in the last 10 years. The fortunes of tech billionaires have tripled to $2.4 trillion due to the acceleration in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, fintech, 3D printing and robotics.
The report stated that after the Covid-19 pandemic, more billionaires changed their places of residence in search of less taxes, political stability, good healthcare and good schools. In addition, billionaires’ interest in Switzerland, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and the USA has increased in the last 10 years.
