The British economy grew by 0.1 percent in the July-September period compared to the previous quarter.
The British Office for National Statistics (ONS) announced the growth figures for the third quarter of this year.
Accordingly, the country’s economy grew by 0.1 percent in the said period compared to the previous quarter.
Growth in the service sector was 0.1 percent. While the construction sector grew by 0.8 percent, the manufacturing sector contracted by 0.2 percent.
Growth in the UK economy in the third quarter of the year was measured as 1 percent on an annual basis.
The economy shrank by 0.1 percent on a monthly basis in September.
In her evaluation of the data, ONS Economic Statistics Director Liz McKeown stated that the recent slowdown in economic growth continued and this was reflected in the third quarter performance, and said, “The economy contracted slightly in September. The service sector did not record any growth in September.” he said.
