The Ministry of Trade decided to extend the “6-month-6 thousand kilometers and advertisement restrictions in automotive trade” regulations until January 1, 2025.

The Ministry of Commerce also reports 6 months – 6 thousand km to date. It was reported that within the scope of the regulation, an administrative fine of approximately 52 million TL was imposed on authorized automobile dealers and auto galleries, and approximately 90 million TL was imposed on those who violate the advertising restriction.

The statement made by the Ministry of Commerce is as follows:

“Our Ministry of Commerce continues its work with determination to eliminate the speculative price formations and stockpiling activities experienced in the automotive market last year and last year and to re-establish a fair, competitive and stable market structure in the sector.

In this context, with the “marketing and sales restriction”, the direct or indirect marketing or sale of motorcycles, automobiles and off-road vehicles by authorized dealers and individuals engaged in the trade of second-hand motor vehicles, unless 6 months and 6 thousand kilometers have passed from the date of first registration, is prohibited from July 1. New regulations were implemented stating that it could not be done until 2024. Likewise, with the “advertising restriction”, it was determined that second-hand sales could not be marketed through advertisements at a price above the current sales price until July 1, 2024.

6 months – 6 thousand km so far by our Ministry of Commerce. Within the scope of the regulation, an administrative fine of approximately 52 million TL was imposed on authorized automobile dealers and auto galleries, and approximately 90 million TL was imposed on those who violated the advertising restrictions.

As a result of the regulations and inspections carried out by our Ministry of Commerce; Unfair profits were prevented by selling new vehicles as second-hand vehicles, contributing to the increase in the supply of new vehicles, allowing those in real need to access vehicles, and eliminating consumer grievances by preventing speculative price increases in the automotive sector. In this regard, taking into account the gains in question, our Ministry of Commerce has decided to extend both relevant regulations for 6 months, until January 1, 2025.

In this context, the Notary Offices will continue to prevent sales of second-hand motor land vehicles with a second-hand motor land vehicle trade authorization certificate, as well as all real or legal persons who sell three or more second-hand motor land vehicles without an authorization certificate within a calendar year, contrary to the 6 months – 6 thousand km regulation.
As the Ministry of Trade, with these regulations that we have implemented in the motor land vehicle trade, we will continue our efforts meticulously to ensure price stability in favor of consumers and to establish a fair and balanced market structure for sector officials, and additional measures will be taken if deemed necessary.”
