The museum’s digital preservation team spent 18 months reconstructing the platform’s design and user experience as of December 8, 2006.
Based on the earliest livery documented online, the project collaborated with YouTube’s user experience team and London-based design studio oio.
V&A senior curator Corinna Gardner said this slice of early YouTube represents a significant moment in the history of the internet and digital design.
YouTube CEO Neal Mohan stated that by reconstructing an early viewing page, they took the public to the beginning of a global cultural phenomenon.
OPENED TO VISIT IN THE DESIGN GALLERY
According to CNN International; This first work by YouTube went on display at the “Design 1900-Now” gallery at the V&A South Kensington.
It was reported that the details of the reconstruction process will be examined in a small exhibition to be held at the V&A East Storehouse in Stratford.
