Social security consultant Murat Bal evaluated the figures through scenarios, hours before the minimum wage negotiations. Speaking to Haber Global Reporter Esma Murat, Bal shared his prediction with the public.

Bal said, “Negotiations on the minimum wage will begin on December 10. We expect it to be determined clearly by the end of the year. A decision or a figure does not come before at least 2-3 meetings. Considering whether there will be mutual consensus on the figure, there is some room for debate. “The employer side is pushing for a small raise under the excuse of inflation, and the employee side is pushing for a raise at least as much as the inflation, taking the President’s words as a reference,” he said.

Murat Bal explained his predictions as follows:

“Inflation was 2.24 in November. One month’s data remains. It was 41.5 percent in the MTP. The Central Bank target is 44 percent. In 2023, it increased from 11 thousand 402 lira to 17 thousand 2 lira. This figure increased by 30 percent to 22 thousand 102 lira, an increase of 35 percent. If it is done, it will cost 22 thousand 952 liras, if it is done at 40 percent It will come to 23 thousand 803 liras.

I think the increase will be at least as much as inflation. “If it is to be determined at once, I think the figure will not be less than 45 percent, and I think it will be 24 thousand 652 liras.”
