The atomic energy authority confirms damage to nuclear systems in Iran. New satellite images show part of the destruction.
After the USA’s attack, the Maxar company published pictures of the nuclear facilities in Isfahan and Fordo. Dark areas and craters can be seen on the satellite images where the systems were apparently shot at.
The United States had joined the war between Israel and Iran on Sunday night and the three nuclear facilities Fordo, Natans and Isfahan attacked with B-2 fighting jets and GBU-57 bombs, which can also destroy underground goals. According to the USA, the bunker-breaking bombs of the GBU-57 bombs were only used in the attacks on the Fordo and Natans facilities.
The head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, described the UN Security Council shortly afterwards the known state of the three attacked facilities. Grossi said at an urgency meeting of the committee in New York on the well-fortified underground uranium enrichment situation Fordo. “At this point, nobody – not even the IAEA – is able to evaluate underground damage to Fordo.”
In Isfahan, tunnels that were used to store enriched material were apparently hit, Grossi said. At the beginning of June it was said that a large part of the highest enriched uranium of Iran was stored underground in Isfahan. According to the United States, the Isfahan system was attacked with more than two dozen Tomahawk March Aircraft bodies, which were fired by submarines.
A fuel enrichment system was hit in Natans. Iran informed the IAEA that there was no radiation increase outside the three systems.
Grossi called Iran to let inspectors of his agency to be given the facilities. He appealed to everyone involved to return to diplomacy. “We have a time window for the possibility of returning to dialogue and diplomacy. When this window closes, violence and destruction will reach unthinkable heights, and the global non -distribution regime, as we know it, could crumble and collapse.”
Israel had launched a major attack on Iran on June 13 and has bombed the country and military facilities in the country since then. It justifies its approach with the advanced Iranian nuclear program. In return, Iran attacks Israel with rockets and drones.
