Evaluations about the future of Maserati began before the decision of the company’s new CEO Antonio Filosa to be appointed.

The French-Italian company, the fourth largest car manufacturer in the world, is going to arrangements in its 14 brand portfolio.

The company is trying to compete with Chinese competitors while preparing for the customs duties that US President Donald Trump has decided to implement.

In the early days of April, Stellantis applied to the McKinsey consultancy company about the possible effects of the US customs duties on Maserati and Alfa Romeo brands. Stellantis stated that he was committed to both brands.

The two sources said that McKinsey’s options for Stellantis is the sale of the brand, but the evaluations are yet in the early stages.

Stellantis spokesman, Maserati is not for sale while McKinsey did not answer questions.
