After the bomb attack on a railway line, Poland’s government sees Russian secret services as the masterminds. Further investigations are ongoing.

Poland has blamed Russia for the bomb attack on a strategically important railway line. Everything indicates that the sabotage was carried out by the Russian secret services, said Jacek Dobrzynski, spokesman for the secret service coordinator in Warsaw. The government’s National Security Committee had previously met in a special session.

“The Russian services want to destabilize our society, they want to spread fear,” Dobrzynski continued. However, investigators would fully investigate the matter.

In the EU and NATO country Poland, which is one of the closest political and military allies of Ukraine, which was attacked by Russia, there has been fear of Russian acts of sabotage since the beginning of the war. The railway network in particular is considered a possible target, as many military transports to Ukraine run via Poland to the neighboring country. The route now affected leads to the border town of Dorohusk and from there on to Ukraine.

Last year, Poland’s government blamed Russian secret services for a major fire in a shopping center in Warsaw. In October, eight people were also arrested on charges of planning acts of sabotage and espionage on behalf of Moscow.
