In the US, the House of Representatives approved the release of the files in the case of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein on Tuesday.

In the vote, only one representative voted against disclosing the investigation documents: Republican Clay Higgins. The remaining 427 MPs voted for the release.

Epstein died in custody in 2019. According to the US justice system, he is said to have abused girls and young women for years and referred them to celebrities. In addition, files on his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, who has been serving a 20-year prison sentence since her conviction in 2022, are to be made public. During the trial, Maxwell reported in detail about Epstein’s relationships with political and social figures. However, it is suspected that the files show an even greater involvement of celebrities, possibly including US President Donald Trump.

After the House of Representatives, the US Senate still has to approve the release of the files. He wanted to meet on Tuesday. The US President must then sign the decree for the files to be finally released.
