The eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv is only about 35 kilometers from the border with Russia. At night it becomes the target of Russian air raids again.

More than 20 people were reportedly injured in a Russian drone attack on the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv. The attack hit the city during the night, damaging several buildings and starting fires, Mayor Ihor Terekhov and the regional military administration said, according to Ukrainian media. A nine-story residential building was evacuated after being hit.

Ukraine has been resisting a Russian invasion for more than three and a half years. Russia’s air strikes spread fear and terror in the neighboring country, especially at night. Kharkiv is only about 35 kilometers from the Russian border and is particularly often shot at. Before the war began in February 2022, Ukraine’s second largest city had 1.4 million inhabitants. After the fighting began, many of them fled. According to authorities, around 1.3 million people now live in Kharkiv again.
