In his statement to the AA correspondent, Minister Uraloğlu stated that the number of operators operating in the electronic communications sector increased to 416, and the number of authorizations given to these operators reached 782.
Pointing out that the total net sales revenues of operators in the electronic communications sector reached 179.7 billion liras and the total amount of investments approached 263 billion liras, Uraloğlu noted that the increase in income in the sector also had a positive impact on investments.
Uraloğlu explained that, as the Ministry, they are making great efforts to ensure that the services are received at the highest quality throughout the country, and said, “Especially the prevalence of mobile services throughout the country and the number of subscribers continue to increase. The number of subscribers in mobile services increased to 86 million, and the prevalence of mobile subscribers according to the population increased to 100.3 percent.” he said.
“5G service infrastructure is getting stronger and its prevalence is increasing”
Emphasizing that the 5G service infrastructure is getting stronger and more widespread day by day, Uraloğlu stated that the increase in the number of subscribers to this service continues.
Reminding that 5G started to be used in mobile networks throughout Turkey as of April 1, Uraloğlu said, “From the first day, 21 million subscribers met with this technology. Today, this number has reached 44.5 million. In about 4 months, more than half of our country’s population met with 5G, in other words, one in every two people became a 5G subscriber.” he said.
Explaining that 5G is not just a technology, but the name of an era that will transform Türkiye’s economy, industry, health, transportation and agriculture, Uraloğlu said:
“5G will move Türkiye to the center of digital transformation with its ultra-low latency and intense device connection capacity compared to 4.5G. With fully autonomous driving and smart road applications in transportation, road safety will increase and traffic will be managed more efficiently. In industry, production processes will be optimized with smart factories, autonomous robots and instant data analysis. Innovative solutions will come to life in every field from energy management to parking systems in smart cities.”

Uraloğlu pointed out that the competition of operators to provide the best service at the most affordable price is for the benefit of subscribers, “How strong the competitive environment is can be seen by looking at the number of numbers ported. With 3.5 million numbers ported in the first quarter of the year, the total number of numbers ported reached 218 million 239 thousand 274. Of this, 215 million 400 thousand 185 were mobile numbers and 2 million 839 thousand 89 were fixed numbers.” he said.
Emphasizing that Türkiye maintained its first place among European countries in terms of average monthly mobile call duration in this period, Uraloğlu stated that Turkey is the country that makes the most calls via mobile phone compared to European countries, with an average monthly mobile usage time of 439 minutes in the first quarter of the year.
Minister Uraloğlu stated that he was pleased to see that investments in fiber infrastructure continue and added that the total fiber infrastructure length reached 365 thousand kilometers in the first half of the year.
