The South Korean secret service NIS assumes that North Korea is sending a total of around 12,000 soldiers to support Putin’s war of aggression, including special forces.
According to information from South Korean intelligence, North Korea has already sent around 1,500 soldiers to support Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. Videos released by Ukrainian authorities show soldiers collecting their equipment and training.
In total, North Korea is said to have decided to send around 12,000 soldiers for support, including special units. As the NIS further reports, the soldiers are to be given Russian uniforms and false identities in order to conceal their true origins. The South Korean secret service bases its information on satellite images and facial recognition software, which was used in collaboration with the Ukrainian secret service.
The government in Kiev recently spoke of soldiers from North Korea in the ranks of the Russian occupation troops. The head of military intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, said 11,000 North Korean infantrymen are currently being trained in eastern Russia. He expects them to be ready for use from November 1st.
Pyongyang is already massively supporting the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine with weapons and ammunition. In recent months, North Korea has continued its military cooperation with Russia greatly intensified. It was only in June that Moscow and Pyongyang signed a strategic cooperation agreement, which also includes mutual assistance in the event of an attack by a third country.
