Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said that recently many complaints have been received from citizens to BTK about unwanted calls and SMS.
Stating that they made evaluations on these complaints, Uraloğlu stated that they took decisions to prevent activities against national security and public order through the electronic communication services offered by the operators.
Uraloğlu stated that they aim to prevent calls and messages sent for purposes such as betting and gambling, which cause citizens to fear and panic or to deceive/defraud consumers, and added: “Operators authorized by BTK and those who act on behalf of the operator, such as agencies/dealers, will only be able to call their own subscribers for purposes such as marketing, promotion and information of electronic communication services. Persons other than their own subscribers will not be able to call by phone and SMS/MMS will not be sent.” he said.
Reminding that administrative sanctions are imposed if it is determined that consumers are misinformed or misled by such calls and messages, Uraloğlu said, “If it is determined that the violation continues or that the public service is not provided as required and consumer victimization occurs, other measures will be taken. In this context, services provided to the operator who committed the violation, such as call transfer and termination, will be limited or stopped.” he said.
