According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple will announce the “Apple Upgrade” program on July 28. Program; It will cover all iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch models. The system allows users to spread the cost over time instead of paying high amounts all at once. Rental terms will vary depending on the product group.

Rental options of up to 24 months will be available for iPhone and Apple Watch models. Macs and iPads can be rented for up to 36 months.

When the contract expires, consumers will have three different options: to pay the remaining price of the device and purchase it, to return the device, or to update it with the newest model, befitting the name of the system. The news also states that in some special cases, additional fees may be reflected in transactions.

THERE IS INCREASE PRESSURE BEHIND THE MOVE

It is not a coincidence that Apple focused on the rental model in this period. The global crisis, which started when the artificial intelligence industry virtually wiped out the memory chip (RAM) on the market and is called “RAMageddon” in the technology world, has seriously increased hardware costs.

Apple, which recently announced that it will increase product prices due to cost pressure, aims to alleviate the negative impact of increased prices on the consumer and preserve device accessibility with this rental method.
