Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı said, “As of September 1, 2024, we have included 77 percent of the cultivated lands in Turkey in the planning scope with the production planning. We expect a 13.1 percent increase in cereal products, 17 percent in legumes and 22 percent in oilseeds by the end of the 2027 planning period.”
Minister İbrahim Yumaklı attended the ‘New Era in Agriculture: Production Planning and New Support Model’ program held at the Söğütözü campus of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Explaining the new model, Minister Yumaklı said, “As of September 1, 2024, we have included 77 percent of the cultivated lands in Turkey in the planning scope with production planning. We have predicted a 13.1 percent increase in cereal products by the end of the 2027 planning period. Similarly, we expect a 17 percent increase in legumes. We will have achieved a 22 percent increase in oilseeds. While announcing our supports, we have also realized many firsts in this planning process. Production supports were announced for the first time before the production period. Production supports that will be valid for 3 years were also announced during this process. The determination and updating of support amounts based on input costs will be in question in this model. There will be additional support for products included in gradual production in regions with water shortages and basins. We will also provide additional support with national and local seeds developed by the public. What do we want? Our producers who produce products included in plant production planning will know what kind of support they will receive for the next 3 years as of today, regardless of which product they plant.”
‘WE WILL GIVE SUPPORT IN CASH’
Minister Yumaklı stated that fuel and fertilizer support will be provided for strategic products and said, “Production Planning and New Support Model; It has been reduced to 3 main headings as Basic Support, Planning Support and Water Restriction Support. Basic support is the support provided to products other than those included in the planning and to products produced in the specified basins that are included in the planning without any other conditions. The model was designed to provide half of the fuel used for those products and 25 percent of the fertilizer. With the planning support, if 13 strategic products and forage crops are produced in the specified basins, they are provided with an additional support as much as the basic support. In other words, in this case, they will have received all of the fuel. They will have received 50 percent of the fertilizer. If production is carried out as determined in places with water restrictions with the production development support model, we will have provided all of the fertilizer and fuel used for that product by providing the remaining half of the fertilizer. We have converted these into cash payments in line with the demand from our farmers and producers. In other words, we will now give these payments to our farmers in cash starting from the upcoming period.”
