Minister Işıkhan, in his statement on his social media account, stated that they continue to work in line with the 12th Development Plan and OVP targets.
Emphasizing that unemployment rates continue to decline, Işıkhan shared the following information:
“Our employment numbers increased by 273 thousand people in May 2024 compared to the previous month and renewed its historical peak with 32 million 920 thousand people. Our employment rate increased by 0.4 points compared to the previous month and 1.6 points compared to the previous year and reached 50 percent. As a result of the determined steps we have taken for investment, production, employment and export-oriented growth, we are also getting the results we expected in unemployment data.
“With the number of unemployed decreasing by 27 thousand people, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.1 points compared to the previous month and 1.1 points compared to the previous year, reaching 8.4 percent. Our labor force increased by 245 thousand people compared to the previous month, reaching 35 million 931 thousand people; the labor force participation rate increased by 0.3 points compared to the previous month and 1 point compared to the previous year, reaching 54.5 percent.”
