The Presidential Decree on Pricing of Medicinal Products for Human Use was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.

Accordingly, the regulation envisaged a two-stage exchange rate increase. The euro exchange rate used in drug pricing, which was 25 lira 33 kuruş, was increased to 26 lira 87 kuruş effective tomorrow, and to 29 lira 11 kuruş as of April 1.

According to the information obtained, the decree was not limited to just updating the exchange rate that will be the basis for drug prices. A strategy that prioritizes localized production of pharmaceuticals while encouraging innovative drugs to come to the country with an appropriate pricing policy was aimed.

The aim of this year’s regulation, which is based on a two-stage exchange rate increase centered on the date of April 1, 2026, is to ensure uninterrupted pharmaceutical supply and to encourage domestic production in pharmaceuticals.

A CHANGE HAS BEEN MADE IN THE FORMULA IN DRUG PRICING

The reason for the two-stage update of the exchange rate was the change in the drug price decree.

According to the current regulation, the exchange rate used in drug pricing was calculated by taking 60 percent of the previous year’s average euro exchange rate. With the change, this rate was determined as 65 percent, effective from April 1, 2026.
