The production prototype Bayraktar Kızılelma PT-3 was transferred to the AKINCI Flight Training and Test Center in Çorlu district of Tekirdağ in July. Here, it first passed the engine start-up test with safety ties.
As the first flight approaches, automatic taxi tests, running tests and wheel cutting tests have been successfully completed.
“OUR TESTS WILL CONTINUE”
The Bayraktar Kızılelma PT-3 first flight test, which was conducted in Çorlu in the morning hours, was managed by Baykar Chairman of the Board and Technology Leader Selçuk Bayraktar. System identification activities were also successfully completed during the test.
Making a statement after the successful test, Selçuk Bayraktar said:
“The third prototype, which is the production prototype of Bayraktar Kızılelma, successfully completed its first flight today. It was a short test flight. Our tests will continue from now on. May it bring good luck and fortune to our country and nation.”

STRONGER, MORE AGILE
Development activities for Turkey’s first unmanned combat aircraft, Bayraktar Kızılelma, continue at full speed. In this context, significant changes were made to the production prototype thanks to the experiences gained from the first prototypes. In addition to structural improvements, improvements were made to the avionics architecture.
The flight was carried out with the afterburner engine alternative, the integration of which was successfully completed. Bayraktar Kızılelma, which will approach the speed of sound with its powerful new engine, will be able to maneuver much better at high speeds thanks to aerodynamic improvements.
Thanks to the high situational awareness gained with its AESA radar, it will be able to perform the most difficult missions.
FLIGHT IN RECORD TIME
The Bayraktar Kızılelma project, which Baykar set out with 100 percent equity capital, started in 2021. Bayraktar Kızılelma, tail number TC-ÖZB, came off the production line on November 14, 2022, and was transferred to the AKINCI Flight Training and Test Center in Çorlu.
After successfully completing ground tests here quickly, it made its first flight on December 14, 2022. Bayraktar Kızılelma met with the sky in a record time of one year.
A FIRST IN AVIATION HISTORY
Bayraktar Kızılelma carried out flights that were the first in world aviation history during Teknofest 2023.
Bayraktar Kızılelma, which performed formation flights with Bayraktar AkıncıTİHA, performed a formation flight with the concept of a fleet in the skies of Istanbul with the Turkish Stars consisting of the F-16 fighter jet SOLOTÜRK and F-5 jet aircraft on May 1, 2023. These flight concepts, which are a turning point in the history of world aviation, will also shape the air combat of the future.
Bayraktar Kızılelma will be a platform that will revolutionize the battlefield, especially with its ability to take off and land on ships with short runways.
Bayraktar Kızılelma, which was developed to have the ability to land and take off on short-runway ships such as the TCG Anadolu ship that Turkey built and is currently conducting sea trials, will play an important role in overseas missions thanks to this ability. With this ability, it will play a strategic role in the protection of the Blue Homeland.
EXPORT CHAMPION
Baykar, which has carried out all its projects with its own resources from the beginning to the present, has obtained 83% of all its income from exports since the beginning of the UAV R&D process in 2003.
Baykar, which achieved $1.8 billion in exports in 2023, ranked among the top 10 companies that exported the most in all sectors in our country. Receiving the Champions of Export Award, Baykar became the export leader of the defense and aviation sector in 2021, 2022 and 2023 according to the data of the Presidency of Defense Industries and the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM).
Baykar, which has earned more than 90% of its revenues from exports in recent years, made one-third of the exports in the defense and aviation sector alone in 2023.
As the world’s largest UAV exporter, 97.5 percent of the contracts signed by Baykar are export-based. Export agreements have been signed with 33 countries for the Bayraktar TB2 UAV and with 10 countries for the Bayraktar Akıncı UAV, totaling 34 countries.
