BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul closed the day with a decline.

BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul closed the day at 9,891.00 points, losing 1.38 percent.

BIST 100 index decreased by 138.73 points compared to the previous close, and the total transaction volume was 88 billion lira.

While the banking index gained 0.33 percent, the holding index lost 1.68 percent.

Among the sector indices, the biggest gainer was banking, while the biggest loser was financial leasing factoring with 3.34 percent.

In global markets, the increased risk appetite following the start of the interest rate reduction cycle by the US Federal Reserve (Fed) is being suppressed by data that feeds recession concerns and geopolitical risks.

On the other hand, according to data announced domestically, annual inflation expectations for the next 12 months in August decreased by 1.2 points to 27.5 percent for market participants, by 2.7 points to 51.1 percent for the real sector, and by 1.5 points to 71.6 percent for households.

Analysts stated that tomorrow, the summary of the Monetary Policy Committee meeting of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, weekly money and banking statistics will be followed domestically, while growth in the US, durable goods orders, pending housing sales, statements by Fed Chair Jerome Powell and European Central Bank (ECB) Chair Christine Lagarde will be followed abroad, and noted that technically, 9,800 and 9,700 points are support in the BIST 100 index, while 10,150 and 10,290 are resistance levels.
