Numerous streets in Washington were closed for the test. Trump’s real inauguration will take place in the US capital on Monday, January 20th.
9:33 a.m.: Israeli settlers say they want to send a delegation to Washington for the inauguration of future US President Donald Trump. The Yesha Council, an umbrella organization for the self-government of Israeli settlements in the West Bank, announced this on Facebook. During the visit, the delegation will hand over a letter “as an expression of their appreciation,” it said.
The Yescha Council was invited to the event, says its chairman Israel Ganz, according to the right-wing religious news portal “Arutz Sheva”. “The invitation we received from the government reflects the shared values of Israel, the settlements and the USA, which are based on biblical principles,” the portal quoted him as saying.
7:26 a.m.: US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed expert Ed Russo to head a new environmental task force. In the future, this will advise his government on initiatives to protect natural resources and create jobs, as Trump announced on the Truth Social platform he co-founded.
The task force will implement its clean air and clean water policies. Together we will achieve “American energy dominance” and rebuild the economy, Trump wrote. He also repeated his slogan “Drill, Baby, drill” (roughly: Bohr, Baby, bohr), with which he had repeatedly expressed his support for fossil fuels during the election campaign.
Russo had reportedly previously worked as an environmental consultant for Trump’s company. He is also the author of the book “Donald J. Trump: An Environmental Hero.”

1:10 a.m.: A few days after announcing the end of its fact-checking program, US digital company Meta also announced the end of its internal diversity programs. The diversity, equality and inclusion programs – abbreviated as DEI – would be discontinued “in light of a changing legal and political landscape,” said an internal message sent on Friday by the parent company of the online networks Facebook and Instagram.
Conservative politicians have been criticizing such programs for some time, arguing, among other things, that rather than overcoming divisions between different population groups, they reinforce them.
After Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election, several US companies, including supermarket giant Walmart, car manufacturer Ford and whiskey producer Jack Daniel’s, announced the dismantling of diversity programs.
12:30 a.m.: Five days before Donald Trump takes office, outgoing US President Joe Biden will address the nation. Trump will be inaugurated as the 47th US President on January 20th.
