US electric car manufacturer Tesla recalled approximately 240 thousand vehicles due to a safety problem that occurred in the 2024-2025 Model 3 and Model S, 2023-2025 Model X and 2023-2025 Model Y vehicles.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated that this recall was due to the computer circuit boards in the vehicles in question shorting out, causing the rearview camera to lose its image. This may increase the risk of an accident by obstructing the driver’s rear view.
Tesla plans to provide a solution to most of the recalled vehicles with a remote software update. This update will eliminate the problem causing a short circuit. NHTSA announced that Tesla has also initiated a study to identify vehicles at risk of circuit board failure and that computer replacements for these vehicles will be made free of charge.
The vehicles included in the recall are valid for users living in the USA. However, Tesla has initiated a global check to detect similar problems around the world and take the necessary measures.
This new move by Tesla is among the measures taken by the company to improve safety standards. The company continues to prioritize the safety of its users, aware that errors in the rear view camera system can have serious effects on traffic safety.
